Coco Coir Grow Media

What makes coconut coir the “gateway” grow media for soil growers wanting to make the leap to hydroponics? Just4Growers explains what coco coir grow media is, how it is processed, and how you—as an indoor grower—can get the most out of it to boost yields.

Also known as coco peat, coir or just coco, it is derived from the husks of coconuts, is available in a variety of fibrous consistencies for use as a hydroponic media, and isn’t completely inert. It generally contains some potassium, which is why there are specially formulated hydroponic nutrients available specifically for when coco coir is used as the growing media.
